Project Get Employed Today
Helping to empower families and individuals living in
Tacoma/Pierce County Washington.
Project Get Employed today provides our participants
with the opportunity to earn an income that will help
them be self-sustaining.
Provide quick access to the basic necessities (i.e,
food, clothing, shelter, and improvement in overall
quality of life).
Helping low-income residents of Tacoma/Pierce
County WA overcome barriers to employment, such
as, drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness, basic
education, child care, transportation, low
self-esteem, physical and mental disabilities and work
clothing.
Many of the services provided by Project Get
Employed Today are not found in the One-Stop
System, such as, marriage reconciliation, abstinence
education, family counseling, HIV testing and
prevention counseling, Holistic health Recovery
Program, and Safety Counts.
Services at Project Get employed today are Tailored
to each participants skills and abilities. Job
Developers match each participant's interests,
aptitudes and skills with the employers job
requirements and schedule job interviews.
Instructional Methods and Tools:
Lectures, mock interviews, demonstrations,
discussion periods, role playing, videos, power point
presentations, and practical applications.

employment due to their negative work histories,
arrest record and/or substance abuse, and lack of
skills.
Project GET effectively removes the barriers to
employment through one-on-one soft skills training,
conflict resolution, mentoring, counseling, and
computer training.
Project GET provides on-going, much needed support
network with emphasis on pre and post employment
services such as building positive peer-mentoring
relationships, training in financial management,
personal accountability, social skill development,
parenting, job training, and removing personal
barriers to employment.
This holistic approach aims to move participants to
sustainability, and a career, not just a job. Resulting
in building much needed self-esteem required for
success at long term employment, purposeful lives,
and the ability to work through temporary obstacles.
Project GET has successfully placed over 2000 hard to
employ participants in unsubsidized employment
since April 2002 moving them toward long-term
employment and increased ability to earn a livable
wage resulting in happy and healthy families.
